Ballet Dance Class Music CD
CD01 Ballet Dance Class Music CD - Arranger-Composer Douglas Schultz (Composer), pianist Douglas Schultz (Performer) - Ballet Class Music from New York City Leaning on Tradition Vol 1 - Ballet Dance Class Music - Leaning on Tradition, Volume 1 The music on this CD, beautifully arranged for ballet class, draws predominantly on late nineteenth century ballet, opera, and classical music. There are some well known variations plus outstanding dance music from rarely seen ballets. All are performed with energy and elegance, hall-marks of Doug?s playing. -Barre exercises never too short and with even numbers of counts (no extra balance music). -Very long selections for pirouettes and allegros in the center. -Seventy minutes or more in length. -Royalty-free classroom use (no ASCAP or BMI fees). I have danced professionally and taught ballet for over ten years. Schultz understands dancers and what they need. The tempos and musicality are perfect. This CD is good for any level but, it is excellent for teaching younger dancers. The music is very easy to count without being boring. It will help them to do the steps right just by listening to the music and the accents. The jacket cover is also very well done and teacher-friendly. It lists the steps the music is intended for and the length of each piece. He gives each step two tracks (ie. enough music for both sides). It is a delight to have ballet music that is enjoyable to listen. My students and I have enjoyed this CD of traditional ballet class music. The tracks are long enough for traditional barre exercises with enough music for a balance at the end. I would recommend this to anyone looking to update their ballet class music collection.
