Ballet Dance Class Music CD
CD01 Ballet Dance Class Music CD - Arranger-Composer Douglas Schultz (Composer), pianist Douglas Schultz (Performer) - Ballet Class Music from New York City Music from Company Class Vol 1 - Ballet Dance Class Music - Douglas Schultz is as good as any pianist making recordings for ballet class today... light, lilting, easy to dance to... -- from Attitude Magazine, fall-winter 1999, review by Robert Atwood. Music that makes you want to dance... enough variety for almost any combination... ideal for professional and children?s classes... -- from New York Dance Fax Magazine, July 1999, review by Elizabeth Belton. Music from Company Class, Volume 1 Music designed to inspire professional dancers must include a wide variety of styles. You?ll find here an eclectic collection: some classical, some a little jazzy, some wonderful melodies from lesser-known ballets and operas, and a good number of often requested originals. -Barre exercises never too short and with even numbers of counts (no extra balance music) -Very long selections for pirouettes and allegros in the center -Seventy minutes or more in length -Royalty-free classroom use (no ASCAP or BMI fees). I have danced professionally and taught ballet for over ten years. I have had the pleasure of taking class at Steps in NYC when Douglas Schultz was playing, so I can say first hand that having his CDs are the next best thing to having live music. This is one of the best ballet CDs I have ever used. Schultz understands dancers and what they need. The tempos and musicality are perfect. This CD is complimented by Music from Company Class, Vol. 2; it is wonderful to have two volumes of professional music to choose from. The jacket cover is also very well done. It lists the steps the music is intended for and the length of each piece. He gives each step two tracks(ie. enough music for both sides). In addition to what is listed, the Grand Allegro tracks on both CDs are very good for fouette turns or turns a la second. It is a delight to have ballet music that is enjoyable to listen to whether you are teaching or giving yourself class. I never go on tour without all of Schultz's CDs.
